While the Routes to the Top page describes all the ascent, in descent the routes can be totally different!
All the routes converge from two points onto the summit so you’ll either need to descend down past the entrance to Hafod Eryri, or to the right of the building when facing down from the summit.
Coming soon – the full description of the following main routes as descents including images of the main diversion points.
Llanberis - Don’t end up in Pen y Pass or Crib Goch – and don’t even think of following the railway down (unless you’re a train driver, and also, before getting pedantic, driving one of the Mountain Railway trains).
Ranger - Standing stone next to railway identifies this route.
Watkin (and Lliwedd) – There’s a standing stone at the top of Bwlch Main that marks the descent.
Rhyd Ddu - Cross Bwlch Main and at the junction keep to the narrow path on the right.
South Ridge - Keep left at Bwlch Main junction.
We will add the descent GPX files so you don’t need to load the ascent ones and then reverse it!
